FLL Robotics Coach
I've had the privilege of being an FLL Robotics Coach for 3 years at Stewart Manor. I designed an application and interview process for 5th and 6th grade students to join the team, which allows for a maximum of 10 members. I take pride in guiding the team to work collaboratively, present their ideas to a panel of judges, and research diligently. We demonstrate gracious professionalism in everything we do. Our team has moved onto the Long Island Championship each year that I have been a coach, placing higher than 24 out of 30 teams at each qualifying event.
Students are tasked with designing a Lego robot that can complete as many tasks as possible on the mission board within 2.5 minutes. Also, they must create a comprehensive research project that solves a real-world problem related to the year's theme. Our team's projects included a prototype idea to relocate healthy coral to rejuvenate coral reefs to combat coral bleaching, and a working virtual museum that featured student's passions in art, music, theatre, and poetry.
